Parties must not give direct nominations

The current trend by political parties in their nominations as we approach August elections is worrying, bad and undemocratic.

Majority of the parties are gearing up to direct nominations.

This denies “Wanjiku” the very right of participation in decision-making and more so in political processes.

Direct nominations apply in very special cases and not be abused to deny Wanjiku her right unconstitutionally and against the rule of law.

The participation of the people helps a people to practise transparency and accountability and good governance — where leaders are held accountable to the people. Imposition of leaders on electorate.
