Ezekiel Mutua Bans Six DSTV Cartoons for Promoting Homosexuality

Kenya’s moral policeman Ezekiel Mutua is making headlines again, this time in a fight against children cartoon programs.

The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) chief executive has banned six cartoon programmes aired by Pay-TV service provider Multichoice DStv “that promote homosexuality.”

In a statement released yesterday, Mr Mutua said the cartoons “were laced with subtle messages normalising, glamorising or even glorifying homosexual behaviour contrary to the law and the KFCB Classification Guidelines.”

The programs include Loud House, The Legend of the Korra and Hey Arnold, which air on Nickelodeon. The others are Clarance, Steven Universe and Adventure Time, which air on Cartoon Network.

Mutua said the ban follows investigations prompted by complaints from members of the public.

“The Board has written to Multichoice Limited, the owners of DSTV to cease with immediate effect the airing of such obnoxious and inappropriate material that targets children and seeks to impair their moral judgement on the institution of family,” reads part of the statement.

“We urge parents to monitor the kids programs on pay TV Channels and inform the Board of any unpalatable content,” added Mutua.

He added that KFCB has instructed its lawyers to take appropriate legal action against Multichoice for the blatant breach of the law.

Ezekiel Mutua argues that homosexuality is against the country’s moral values and children must be protected from such foreign retrogressive and bizzare practices.

“Article 11 of our Constitution recognises culture as the foundation of the nation and the cumulative civilisation of the Kenyan people. Homosexuality is not our culture and children must be protected from such foreign retrogressive and bizzare practices. Marriage is a union between two people of the opposite sex and any attempt by the media to teach our children that a man marrying another man is ok must be condemned,” wrote Mutua.
