Following Tuface backing out of the anti-government protest, which he first announced on February 4th, 2017, Nigerians have called him names, including ‘coward and ‘illiterate.’
In the video [below] the singer stated that he has read and seen all the social media comments by both concerned and angry Nigerian voices.
He even acknowledged the fact that he was aware of people calling him ill names for starting a course and pulling out, a decision taken after he was rumored to have been arrested by the Department of State Services [DSS] officials.
With a weary heart, Tuface thanked the people who stood by him and the course he believes in, he said he is grateful that they spoke on his behalf when his voice failed him.
Meanwhile, asides other Nigerians who tongue-lashed top comedian Gordons for calling Tuface an illiterate, Naomi Adenuga, a Writer, Problem Solver and award Winning Talent Manager, encouraged Tubaba for pulling out of the protest.
In her words, he made a wise choice by making the safety of the protesters a priority.
Via her Instagram handle @naomibossladythegreat, she wrote:
“Even Martin Luther Withdrew And Put The Safety Of The People First*. A Wise Man Lives To Fight Another Day*. I have tried not to air my opinion, comment on blogs and posts because it is in my nature to be vocal and confrontational* I always say how I feel.
“But my friend and brother will not have been pleased with me as he is a peace-loving person and always insists on us respecting other people’s opinion*. I haven’t met a braver or more selfless man in my entire life*. I pray that my sons will be even half the man that he is*.
They say he has kids from different women but he never denied any of his kids like most men do despite their wealth and status*. They say he is an illiterate but the definition of an illiterate is someone who cannot read and write*. This man reads and writes perfectly well.”
Tuface Appreciates Nigerian voices
Recall that Gordons made a jest of Tuface, on Tuesday, advising him to concentrate on music as politics and public speaking is not his area of specialization.
“How are you going to express yourself TuFace when the microphone is right in your face and you are asked to express your grievance and the reason why you are protesting? You can’t express yourself, it’s not your game. Do it with music you are used to. TuFace is the only illiterate who can sing correctly.”
