And Bernard Venter‚ who shared Andre Bouwer’s post on January 20‚ says he has consulted lawyers about an unfavourable comment that followed.

\n

Venter’s sharing of Bouwer’s post did not sit well with Sarah Peace Evans‚ who described Venter as being a “lover of apartheid”.

“Like the rare spotted leopard‚ the lover of apartheid rarely shows his face‚ choosing rather to hide away behind his ‘I’m not racist but…’s. But every now and then (*David Attenborough voice *) he emerges from behind his rock to reveal his full form in all its magnificence. ‘Simply extraordinary’‚” Evans said on her post.

\n

However‚ Venter said on Monday that he had spoken to his legal team and said Evans was facing a lawsuit for assuming something that was not true.

\n

“The old flag is part of the past and is still beautiful – same as our new flag. I have many friends of different races and of all walks of life. But this harassment is uncalled for. If this doesn’t stop‚ I will continue with legal action‚” Venter said.

\n

Evans countered that the assumption she made would be a natural conclusion to anyone who saw the post.

\n

“If he sees it as defamation‚ I will deal with it. The issue here is there are people who are willing to share their views on apartheid.

\n

“If somebody is willing to post publicly about their views‚ they should be prepared for people to take great offence at their posts‚” Evans said.

\n

Efforts to get comment from Bouwer were unsuccessful.

\n

Venter describes himself on Facebook as someone who loved hunting‚ guns‚ 4×4 driving and the outdoors.
