Divers retrieve body of worker who fell down waterfall near Sani Pass

The body of a man who slipped and fell down a waterfall near the Premier Hotel Sani Pass on Friday been found.

Hotel operations manager Alan Campbell said that Qinsela Kambule‚ a construction worker at the resort‚ had died after the fall. His body was found at about 8.50pm on Thursday after a search.

“On Thursday‚ at 2pm‚ an employee of G2 Construction reported to security personnel at the gate of the Premier Hotel Sani Pass that his brother‚ Qinsela Kambule‚ had slipped and fallen into a nearby river above a waterfall‚” said Campbell.

“He was washed down the waterfall and did not resurface. The two were attempting to return to their homes by crossing the river after completing the day’s work.”

The hotel is currently closed for a massive upgrade.

Sani Mountain Rescue was immediately called but could not find Kambule. Police Search and Rescue and K9 Unit teams well called in to assist. Divers found the body at 8.50pm and it was recovered an hour later.

“Premier Hotels & Resorts would like to extend its deepest sympathies to Kambule’s family‚ friends and colleagues‚” said Campbell.
