A public memorial service for rugby legend Joost van der Westhuizen will be held at Loftus Versveld in Pretoria on Friday‚ the J9 foundation which he helped found announced on Monday evening.
The service will start at 12.30pm‚ it said.
Van der Westhuizen‚ a former Springbok captain and scrumhalf‚ died at his home in Johannesburg on Monday at the age of 45 after a long battle with a form of motor neuron disease which saw him confined to a wheelchair for the last years of his life.
He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition on Saturday morning.
