Three men have been arrested in connection with the brutal attack on Underberg farmer Trevor Rees last week.

Berg Protection Services spokesman Brett Deavin said that security personnel‚ police and tracing specialists from the South African Community Action Network had worked on an intelligence driven operation for nearly twelve hours.

“We received information that the suspects were in a specific area and we managed to detain them‚” he said.

He said that stolen valuables had also been recovered.

Rees was discovered by employees on his farm Pudsey‚ in the southern Drakensburg‚ early on Monday after he was bound and beaten by robbers over two days.

Rees had been shot twice in the attack.

He remains in a critical condition in hospital.

The trio are expected to appear in the Himeville Magistrates court on Monday.
