‘Prophet Radebe’ co-owns R5 million racing pigeon

One of the two men who splurged R5 million on a Belgian racing pigeon is a controversial and self-styled prophet who faces criminal charges after refusing to account for his church’s financial affairs.
The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural‚ Religious and Linguistic Communities (CRL) opened the case against The Revelation Church of God’s Samuel Mbiza‚ 38‚ also known as Prophet Radebe‚ in November 2015 at Hillbrow police station.
He declined to appear before the CRL‚ which was probing the commercialisation of religion.
Mbiza was last week thrust into the spotlight after he and Mark Kitchenbrand bought three-year-old racing pigeon Golden Prince at an auction‚ beating a Chinese syndicate to it.
