President Jacob Zuma should recall‚ with immediate effect‚ both Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini and Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan.
This is the view of the South African Student Congress provincial secretary Mqondisi Duma.
Duma was one of the speakers at an African National Congress Youth League economic freedom lecture at the Durban University of Technology on Thursday evening.
Former CEO and newly sworn in member of parliament Brian Molefe as well as ANCYL president Collen Maine were scheduled to speak at the event. However‚ the two were a no show.
A number of students left after learning that Molefe and Maine were not attending.
Duma urged Zuma to do something about Dlamini and Gordhan.
“Honestly‚ we are being compromised on Bathabile‚ truth be told. We love her‚ we love the Women’s League and we love our mothers‚ but can she just move aside‚” said Duma.
Taking aim at Cash Paymaster Services boss Serge Belamont‚ Duma asked: “How do you explain that R280 million goes to a man who is just an investor in South Africa?”.
Duma accused Gordhan of being part of the banks that launched an assault on the rand‚ causing its adverse surge.
“Zuma must recall Pravin. He has shares in every bank‚ that means he benefitted from the assault of the rand.”
