Eskom has decided to keep their employees on the clock on Friday so that the rest of the country may protest with their lights on.

Though people all over the country should be able to speak truth to power‚ it’s hard to do so in the dark.

National spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said on Friday morning: “We keep the light on for everyone‚ so everyone is there. There are people at power stations in order to keep everyone’s lights on today.

We told our workers not to take off without prior leave requests because we need to work hard to keep everyone’s electricity going. This is a job that doesn’t stop‚ so our workers can’t stop either.”

When asked if he was concerned about depots being attacked today‚ he answered: “The protests are going to Pretoria‚ so as far as I know‚ there won’t be any in our area today.”
