Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown will be unable to attend a meeting of Parliament’s public enterprises committee on Friday‚ as requested by its acting chairperson‚ Zukiswa Rantho.
On Wednesday‚ the committee resolved to call Brown and the Eskom board to explain the recent reappointment of Eskom CEO Brian Molefe‚ which has caused public outrage. This was at the request of DA spokesperson on public enterprises Natasha Mazzone.
Rantho said in a statement that Brown had been summoned to court over the appointment of Molefe‚ and therefore “we are unable to discuss the matter as it is subjudice and‚ as the committee‚ we are unable to do proper oversight as planned.
The committee said it was disappointed at the latest developments at Eskom.
