Eastern Cape police on Friday said they had identified one of the badly decomposed bodies dumped near a cliff in Daluxolo informal settlement in Mdantsane.
Captain Mluleki Mbi said the woman’s identity had not yet been made public.
The Daily Dispatch reported that the discovery of the bodies in thick bush had sparked fears of a serial killer in the area.
Earlier this week‚ the bodies of two women were stumbled on when residents chased a person who had allegedly attacked a 14-year-old girl in an unfinished RDP house. The man was not caught.
Mbi said the teenager had opened a case of rape.
“She has been taken to the Thuthuzela Centre where she is receiving counselling from a team of highly-trained psychologists. The state doctors will also examine her for evidence.”
Daluxolo residents embarked on a protest‚ demanding the completion of several RDP houses in the area.
“They say the unfinished houses are a spot for crime‚” Mbi said.
