Polygamist Musa Mseleku and his four wives want to change people’s perception of polygamous marriages through their reality show Uthando Ne Sthembu.
The wealthy businessman and his family were introduced to Mzansi on Thursday night when the reality show made its debut.
Speaking to Drum magazine Musa said they agreed to do the reality show to debunk misconceptions about polygamy.
“For my family and I it was about making a meaningful contribution to the lives of people who would like to follow the life we live. It was also to prevent the abuse that we have witnessed of the polygamous relationship unit. And also to discard any misconceptions that are out there,” he said.
Musa explained that he knew he wanted to be in a polygamous marriage from a young age.
He told the magazine that viewers can expect to see the reality of polygamy because nothing is staged.
Musa said that the secret to making a polygamous marriage work was having a schedule and sticking to it no matter what.
Musa, who has four wives and 10 children, has enjoyed a happy relationship with all of them for years.
Within minutes after Uthando Ne Sthembu aired on Thursday it topped the Twitter trends list with fans sharing their opinions about it.
Judging by the string of comments the show is already a hit among viewers and has created conversations around the age-old practice of polygamy.
Uthando Ne Sthembu airs every Thursday at 8pm on Mzansi Magic DSTV Channel 161.
