Musa’s second wife MaYeni, who he met first, said sharing a man did not come easily.
“It took time for us to become the family that we are today. Some years back we were not like sisters because we didn’t know each other well,” she said.
In an interview with TshisaLIVE MaYeni explained that when Musa told her he wanted to be a polygamist it was easy but she “counselled” herself.
“It was not easy but I had to counsel myself and accept the situation so that I could get on with living my life,” she said.
MaYeni admitted that at first sharing a man physically and emotionally was difficult because women don’t like that, but her family has come a long way.
“We [the four wives] respect each other and there is no such thing as hierarchy. I treat them as my equals and we treat each other like sisters,” she added.
MaYeni explained that even though there are misunderstandings between them, they’ve learnt to sit down and talk about it.
“I am a quiet person and will not shout at anyone but if I don’t like something I just talk to that person,” she said.
MaYeni explained that she agreed to the reality show because of the stigma attached to polygamy. “Just like a monogamous marriage there are challenges but I am happy and have a fulfilling marriage,” she said.
