One of the more interesting battles this weekend is the race to be crowned the league’s top scorer where Everton’s leading man has a one-goal lead
The Premier League top goalscorer market looks to be a three horse race, making it one of the most interesting betting angles on a weekend where there is relatively little to play for elsewhere.
Chelsea have been crowned champions, we know the three teams leaving the division and unless there’s a huge turnaround in the race for the top four, it looks very likely that Arsenal will miss out for the first time in 28 years.
In the top scorer charts though, there are three players within two goals of each other as the season draws to a close.
Romelu Lukaku has been out in front for some time, but the Belgium international’s stuttering form means two other leading marksmen have the chance to close him down in the final strides.
The Everton frontman has 24 league goals to his name, but has drawn a blank in each of his previous four outings for the Toffees. The former Chelsea man, who has been strongly linked with a return to Stamford Bridge, is 1/2 (1.50) with dabblebet to fend off the competition.
He faces a tough task to increase his tally for the campaign on Sunday though, as the Blues head to an Arsenal side who have looked very solid in defence since Arsene Wenger began playing a back three, recording four clean sheets in their last seven league games.
One man who has had few problems firing in recent weeks is Harry Kane. Tottenham may have missed out on the title but the Spurs striker is now up to 22 goals for the campaign, having struck in four of his last six appearances in all competitions. Kane is 15/4 (4.75) to overtake Lukaku and crucially, has two games left to do so.
The first is a trip to Leicester City on Thursday night before Spurs visit already relegated Hull City on the final day of the season. That certainly looks a tempting opportunity for the England international to potentially increase his already impressive record which has seen the 23-year-old break the 20-goal barrier in three consecutive Premier League campaigns.
Alexis Sanchez is also in the mix at 4/1 (5.0) with dabblebet, he has 23 goals so is Lukaku’s nearest challenger at the time of writing. With Arsenal still chasing a Champions League spot, albeit that’s a remote possibility following the midweek results, the Chilean will come up against the current odds on favourite at the Emirates on Sunday.
With four goals in his last three games for the Gunners, that could certainly prove an interesting dynamic for punters as the two go head-to-head in North London.
