Premier League Betting: Could 6/1 Liverpool still come in for Joe Hart ahead of Everton?

The Manchester City goalkeeper faces an uncertain future as he looks for a new club, with a move to the north of England looking most likely

With his loan deal ending at Torino and seemingly surplus to requirements at Manchester City, Joe Hart is looking for a new club.

While it was an admirable step moving to Turin last summer, his spell in northern Italy has not quite been as successful as he might have hoped ,with Torino president Urbano Cairo suggesting recently that he “didn’t expect so many mistakes” from the England custodian.

Statistically, Hart has been one of the poorest performers between the sticks in the Italian top flight, yet with 68 England caps and many years of Premier League experience, he remains an attractive option for English clubs looking to reinforce their goalkeeping options.

Paddy Power belive Merseyside is Hart’s most likely destination, with Everton the shortest priced club to acquire his services at 2/1 (3.00). It could be argued that Hart would be an upgrade on both of Everton’s current keepers Martin Stekelenburg and Joel Robles, despite Hart keeping just five clean sheets in Serie A last season.

Next in the market come Chelsea at 9/2 (5.50), although that would only be likely if current Blues number one Thibaut Courtois leaves Stamford Bridge. Similarly a return to Manchester to feature for United would only happen if David De Gea were to leave Old Trafford, with that option priced at 11/2 (6.50) while Liverpool are offered at an interesting looking 6/1 (7.00).

There were questions raised all season over the Reds’ two current keeps in Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet and despite manager Jurgen Klopp seeming to rule out a move for Hart a few weeks ago, there could yet move a change in position.

Elsewhere in the market, West Ham are priced at 7/1 (8.00) and while the Hammers do not have European football to offer, there is always the lure of living in London. Torino, for their part, are priced at 9/1 (10.00) to sign Hart permanently although that deal looks impossible given the player’s wages, while Hart’s heartfelt goodbye to the club on social media implied that he would not be returning any time soon.
