Uganda’s Vice President, Edward Ssekandi, is one of the speakers who will be attending the Uganda Convention UK (UCUK) this year. Other speakers who will be at the event include Speaker Rebecca Kadaga, Speaker of Parliament; Dr Ian Clarke, Chairman, International Medical Group; and Kin Kariisa NBS TV CEO.
The UCUK is an annual one-day event that features investors and government delegates from both Uganda and UK as well as private sector leaders. According to the event organiser, Mr Willy Mutenza, about 1,000 delegates are expected to attend this year’s event which is set for September 16 in London.
“The convention will provide a unique platform for Ugandan entrepreneurs and international business community experts to discuss ventures, investment opportunities and ways to achieve sustainable economic development.
“The country expects much interest in priority sectors such as mining, agribusiness, tourism and health,” Mr Mutenza said.
Attendees will also receive an inspiration speech from Dr Nandaula Kanyereezi Mutema who after close to two decades in the United States, returned to Uganda where she founded a medical centre, The Clinic located at Village Mall Bugolobi.
Ugandans in Diaspora and investors, who hope to attend the Uganda Convention UK (UCUK), will receive immediate banking services on site as well as financial advice on saving, investment and mortgaging, from Housing Finance Bank Uganda, according to the MD, Mr Mathias Katamba.
For the last six years, the convention has provided a forum for Ugandans in the UK to learn about investment opportunities back home, Mr Mutenza says.
Dr Simon Kagugube, ED Centenary and Bernard Magulu Deputy ED Bank of Africa have also confirmed attendance.
