Eibar started brightly in the opening exchanges but weren’t able to threaten Barcelona’s goal in the final third. The visitors suffered a blow in the eighth minute when Sergio Busquets was stretchered off after a crunching challenge with Gonzalo Escalante.

The home outfit were enjoying a surprisingly fair share of possession but it was Luis Suarez who nearly put Barcelona ahead in the 21st minute after good work by Lionel Messi.

The Gunners then nearly took the lead when Adrian Gonzalez Morales forced Marc-Andre ter Stegen into a brilliant save low down in the 26th minute. Pedro Leon then fired straight at the goalkeeper moments later.

However, it would be Barca who took the advantage after Neymar flicked on into Messi’s path and his blocked shot fell to substitute Denis Suarez who finished well from 20 yards out in the 32nd minute.

Before the break, Yoel denied Neymar with his legs as it ended 1-0 at half-time. Luis Suarez then hit the inside of the post after being played in on goal.

After the interval, a magical move from the away side saw Messi tuck away Suarez’s accurate cross. Eibar were struggling to threaten and Suarez put the game to bed after dispossessing Florian Lejeune and running through to score with confidence past Yoel. Leon nearly pulled a goal back in the final stages but ter Stegen fended his thunderbolt away to safety.

Neymar made it 4-0 at the death when Barca caught Eibar on the break, the Brazilian showing good composure to calmy slot home in injury time to end his recent barren streak in front of goal.
