Cape Town businessman found dead in river

Cape Town businessman Carl van Rooyen had planned a hike in the mountains and a swim.
More than 72 hours later his body was found in the Oliphants River‚ police confirmed on Tuesday night.
Van Rooyen was the owner of Transcape Steels.
The 54-year-old was last seen on Saturday morning in Clanwilliam.
“He went for a hike and never returned. According to his family he was supposed to walk the mountains and swim back to Riviera Estate‚” police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said in a statement.
Wilderness Search and Rescue‚ the police‚ friends and family members launched a search. The body was found ”stuck” in the river late on Tuesday‚ Rwexana said. “An inquest has been opened for investigation. [A] post-mortem will be conducted to determine [the] cause of death‚” she said.
