HARARE – Newly-promoted Premiership side Yadah Football Club has appointed Jairos Tapera as their head coach for the 2017 season.
Tapera, who is the former Young Warriors coach, replaces Kuda Masaraure who does not have the minimum qualification of a Caf A licence as required by the Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) for all top flight coaches.
Club owner Walter Magaya, who is the leader of Prophetic Healing Deliverance (PHD) Ministries, said he will be the technical advisor while Tapera will be the head coach with Masaraure being sent to further his coaching credentials.
“We have appointed Tapera as the new coach not because Masaraure is bad but because of the coaching qualifications required by the authorities,” Magaya told the Daily News.
“We are sending him to school and he will be back with us. I will be the technical advisor myself the same way I have been when we were still in Division One.”
Magaya said they are looking at assembling a strong team capable of competing in the Premiership.
“We are not coming to add numbers but to compete and fight for honours just like other Premiership teams,” Magaya said.
“We will be using Chibuku Stadium as our home ground and we are definitely going to make it our fortress. We are going to renovate it and make it better.
“For training we shall be using our stadium in Prospect and junior teams will use that stadium for their matches.”
Magaya said his team will hold trials on Saturday as they seek to recruit new players. All those who will be coming for trials are expected to pay $10.
“All those who are coming need to pay $10 for coaches’ assessment fee as well as food and other things. Our preparations for the new season will then begin after the trials.”
